I don’t know what happened, but since the past 2 weeks I’m having too many nocturnal emissions, almost 3 nights per week. Most of the time there is no wet dream, or any dream at all, atleast as far as I can remember. I have always taken care to wear loose shorts while sleeping as either underwear or direct contact with the blanket have been a culprit in the past. I don’t think I have much sexual desperation, either. This is cause of extreme concern for me, this frequent loss of energy is way beyond tolerance levels.
Is it possible to do pranayama wrongly that results in this?
Have you done anything new from last three weeks?

I’ve noticed a connection between being exhausted and having wet dreams. Specifically, if I sleep more deeply after several nights of bad sleep or insufficient sleep I find there is a strong tendency to have a wet dream on that night, as if too much tension is being let go at once in a kind of energetic “collapse.” Also happened one hot summer week without A/C. Kept having trouble falling asleep due to heat and when I would it would be a very kind of exhausted, “finally collapsed due to fatigue”-type of sleep. This caused a few wet dreams in one week, wet dreams that, like yours, basically seemed to come out of a dead sleep and not as the result of some sexual dream.
Try to get regular sleep as much as possible in a cool, well-ventilated room, is my advice. Also, consider if there are other new forms of stimulation, like a new girlfriend, looking at pornography, etc.
I’m hit by the problem again. Have had several nocturnal emissons in the past month, and everytime it happens, I lay on the bed cursing myself for hours, without the will to get up, wishing I was dead than this happened. It had happened without a wet dream (or I forgot the dream) so I had reasoned that excessive body heat might have caused it, but this morning there was actually a wet dream and a nocturnal emission. I had an exhausting journey yesterday, but can’t blame the incident on that, because I can vividly recall the wet dream.
I’m single, and unattached, and quite unsuccessfully trying to attract women. It is as if Goddess semen punishes me wickedly for wasting away life without successfully attracting women, or without putting enough effort into it. It looks as if Goddess will just cast me away dead (by emissions itself) and take another birth as a guy who can successfully attract women and let go and finish the karmic cycle. Leaving me dead of course. No big deal for the Goddess who is operating in countless embodies beings, and deaths and births are a mere play to her. Not so for procrastinating mortals like me.
Is there any male who has experienced a similar situation as me here? And any successful strategy adopted?
Wet dreams are just a part of a young man’s life. Its just biology, nothing to be ashamed of. If the wet dreams really bother you, you could masturbate.
Just continue with your practices, don’t worry about it, is what I would do. Overtime it will diminish.

I apologize for thinking that you were discomforted by the emissions in psychological sense. That said, I think you're attaching to much to your seminal control in my opinion. Like I said in the second part of my response it will diminish in time. Just continue with your practice. You could think of yourself as steam boiler and the emissions and as relief vent. Till you can channel the sexual energies it will blow occasionally. I used to masturbate or have sex probably once a day. When I started practices it just started to fall away on its own accord.
Practices by themselves can take one only so far. Ultimately practice and non-practice-time way of living and desires have to work in equilibrium, not in isolation of each other. That’s why I mentioned the deeper issues I have in life.

This sounds like my experience too. If there is no room for the energy to go upwards and in then it will go down and out.
That space for the energy to travel upwards is created by pranayam, meditation, tantra etc etc…
No use crying over spilt milk, our nervous systems do not change overnight, it is a gradual evolution. There aren’t any quickfixes, although siddhasana and/or strong control of the perinium muscle are good starting points.

Ok ok, seriously. Most of male anxiety is linked to the inability to control ejaculation. At least mine was. Once this is in place, most of your worries connected with women will dissappear, whether you are single or in a relationship. Trust me, Goddess has a beatutiful woman in store for you. After the last incident 2 weeks ago, out of frustation I had stopped doing Pranayama with breath retentions - yoni mudra kumbhaka and jalandharas, and restricted myself only to simple SB pranayama and meditation. Since then there has been no incidents so far. It shows that Kundalini Yoga is not for those who are not ready. Goddess has her own will and she cannot be cheated, when the man still has unfulfilled sexual desires, she will simply run downwards.
This also shows the superiority of women’s ability to do Advanced Yoga. They don’t have these problems.
Restraining prana certainly causes this problem. But there are ways to go around it. Here are my tips.
- Do not cover up your body when you sleep. Sleep without a shirt or inner garment if that is feasible. The basic idea is to keep the body temperature low. Take a cold water bath if possible before you sleep. If you do physical exercise do it only moderately. Don’t do too much which will increase body heat. Drink a cup of milk before sleep.
- Avoid/reduce chili powder in food. Alternatively u can use black pepper moderately if you want a spicy taste. Tamarind should be avoided. Alternative for sour taste is lemon.
- Progress in breath holding in pranayama should be a done very slowly over periods of months and with great cation. Sudden increase in intensity of practice lead to this problem. This is because you are controlling prana which is one of 5 primary elements (pancha bhutas). Prana in our body has influence on apana. Apana mediates the function of ejaculation. The controlled prana/apana pushes out when you least exert your control leading to ejaculation. Just reduce intensity/duration by 25% and keep continuing your practice.
- Complete mastery over sexual function is not easy. Intense pranayama practices need extensive practice of celibacy. Well celibacy not just physically. Not just mentally. Getting ride of the idea of sex all together from mind is NOT sufficient enough. It needs purification even at deeper level. It has to completely go away from your sub-conscious mind. This is because sub-conscious mind is active during REM sleep which can bring out the hidden desires from your memory in the form of dream(s) leading to apana’s action. Yogies who do intense pranayama should sleep less than 5.5 to 6 h/day and never beyond 4.00 AM in the morning. Because this is the time when REM sleep dominates and brings in dreams.

I understand. Too much breath holding I have been doing as of late. Just then, I had a weird dream which looked like another Kundalini awakening for it was going through the lower channels to the upper channels. Again it would not move beyond the heart. For some reason, it made my body feel like it had been possessed by an invisible demon and I had been raped inside. I had absolutely no mind control over the whole situation, nor could I banish the goddamned thing. Quite suddenly, I was completely bombarded with extremely strong sexual imagery that seemed to go on for miles and miles with no end. And, yeah I somehow seemed to like it. Dammit, where did all the meditation practise go?
At the end of it all, I felt a sort of release down in my penis, and at the same time, managed to wrest the bloody demon out of my body in the process. I had woken up to find myself having the very first nocturnal emission of my life. I never had it when I was becoming a man, nor do I have a high sexual drive.
Seems I’ll need to find a Master to guide me properly on this path. (good luck finding one in Sydney, Australia - that place is anything but community/spiritually inclined.) Do I have to book a flight to India to find a real master? I mean, the closest I ever got was to see Amma personally and up close, and yes, it was quite an eyeopening experience in a way I never expected it to be. And it didn’t even come from her! I had learnt a very tough lesson in all that - love flows freely when you least expect it. In other words, do not expect anything, especially of love, for it is a totally ungraspable force and eludes you if you even try to seek it by calling up memories of wonderful times. It seems to only arise if one is constantly in reverie of the world and is totally absorbed in what he or she is doing, especially for the betterment of others.
I actually feel somewhat pissed at myself for having let my what you call the subconscious take over, when I could clearly have woken myself up during the dream and dispelled the damn thing away. Never have I ever had a dream quite this sexual. How would one best deal with a situation like this?
It’s been since the last 2 months that I feel like crap and drained of vigor. Just as bad as tho I had sex the night before but way worse. My throat feels dry as fcuk too. Like I had woken up with a bad cold. Is there any way you can train yourself to be consciously awake and in total control during REM sleep?

It plays the role of vitamins with antibiotics for fever. I mean, a supportive role. It reduces the body heat to some extent but not a lot. Milk’s main supportive function is from its ability to support semen formation so that the loss is compensated soon.
Do you know one thing? Seeing miles and miles of sexual imagery in one’s dream will not make him ejaculate as long as he is not involved with it. Ejaculation happens only when that person starts to involve with the dream. The minute some one feels like he likes it or he want to see it more…he will ejaculate. That is a fraction of a second lack of (subconscious)mind control which produces the disastrous.
Well, it is possible. But difficult. Needs real hard work. People may not even try to attempt it. It starts with practicing pranayama and following celibacy at the physical level. The good beginning is to reduce the frequency of sexual act related stuff to as much as once in two months gradually. The second step is practicing celibacy at mental level. This is because the subconscious mind is just hidden mirror image of our own mind and it’s practices that are acquired over a period of several years/decades/jenmas. Controlling mind is the difficult part. The way to go about this is to (i) by avoiding and (ii) diverting the mind.
Avoiding
Putting the head down when walking on the street is an example of avoiding. Even seeing a dressed person of opposite sex brings in significant waves in our mind. Actually in the controlled mind, because when we try to control things, they comes up with more force. Even the mildest stimulation will create big waves which can slow the progress in Yoga. This is the same reason why in olden days, celibates who would like to practice Yoga stayed away from villages or went to forests/hill tops. This practice will reduce the frequency of dreams over a period of time.
Diverting
When the mind starts imagining something divert it immediately at the very same moment without letting it go on its way. One should react as quickly as if he touched the fire. This has to be practiced over periods of months. This practice is very, very important. This is the practice that will train the subconscious mind to avoid ejaculation during dreams. When the dream comes a trained mind will have the person woken up immediately from sleep without any loss.
Pranayama practice has to be performed in parallel without which one will never be able to achieve this.

I’m sure showup means good for all, but his advice on ‘Avoiding’ is misguided and cannot work that way. Those who succeed over lust will be the ones who indulge at will and as much as possible but like an offering to God.
Goddammit, I’m losing semen almost every other night now in sleep. I’d be fathering the most number of children in the world if the semen had fell in the right places. Every morning I wake up crying and cursing myself. I don’t have any active Kundalini, I don’t even do Kumbhaka practices that involve breath holding for fear of triggering more emissions. I don’t watch porn,masturbate or fantasise. May be just seconds of some fantisization when seeing an attractive woman, to force myself approach her, nothing beyond that. I don’t know why Goddess has to continually punish me like this, for not having a partner. She doesn’t care about the low body image I have from a premature baldness leaving me ugly bald, but still I force myself to approach women to please Her, and yet She punishes me every night for not being successful. The same Goddess runs in the spine of other men, but they don’t face a problem this intense, only I seem to be despised by Her.

I remember when I practiced Tantra…
I would bite my hands, clench my teeth, grab my neck, rub my heart, rub my chest, make automatic bandhas, mudras, fall down, roll over, cry, shiver… with sheer orgasmic sensations in every cell of my body.
… anything but never ejaculating.
Another cause has joined the list of causes of nocturnal emission. If I exercise in the evening leaving me very tired, or am physically tired from any other cause, it invariably results in emission during deep sleep without any dream. The brain is causing the semen to eject and wickedly uses it like a sedative to calm the body. As a boy I have had emissions during exams at school whenever I ran out of time, and afterwards I would feel calm. The same mechanism is happening now during sleep. Anyone knows how to correct this problem? I have decided to never exercise any time other than morning, but still I’m not fool proof against getting tired.
