This evening, as every others, I had to take down the trash. Because I forgot to take it outside the day before, i had to walk to the container to throw them one by one in the box. In my region there is a tremendous heat at the moment which is the best environnement to develop .. worms ! I saw them in the bottom of the bin, shaking their white little bodies like crazy, the way they move is simply fascinating. I talked about this to my wife and she didn’t want them here. Not that she hated it or something, but it’s just basic hygiena to not have them there. So I figured out I had to do something. So I took chlorine and poured a quarter liter in the bin.
At this moment I felt something extremely unsettling because I murdered these innocent creatures. I felt a connection to them. I even looked at them drawning and were terribly shocked, this was definitely not a good idea. They were like spermatozoïds alike, they were as alive as I am, as we all are. I never experienced something like this. I ask for pardon but I really had no choice.
Here, I just want to tell that story to someone that could relate. Love, N.
When walking on the street you might be killing ants…death is happening all the time …it goes hand in hand with life
Logic ( the way i follow ) says that we should kill animals or insects that have the ability to hurt us
And if one is religious, then in Islam, it is legal to kill every harmful insects and crawling thing [the Arabic word hasharat includes both insects and arachnids], like scorpions, lice, mosquitoes, or fleas.
Even harmless insects which are the ones that do not cause serious diseases, If they negatively affect your life or households
I remember a yoga friend here in the forums, Radharani , she would kill a mosquitoe then say Ram and wish the mosquitoe a better next life
Hello Neils this sounds like a learning opportunity and perhaps next time you pause and consider other possibilities. Our practices over time allow silence to bubble up in moments like this, adding clarity in our witnessing the event and right action to take. Do not dwell on what you can no longer change (surrender) but do default towards love and doing no harm.
