What caused J Krishnamurti's Kundalini Awakening?

Hi all, I am curious why did Jiddu Krishnamurti experienced such violent KA and why no one around him was able to help him with it?

Hi Iis,

I would say that part of the issue that Jiddu Krishnamurti had was that he never accepted that he was actually experiencing a kundalini awakening. He called it “the process” and did not regard it as kundalini. He experienced intense pain in the head and spine, states of altered consciousness and periods of dissociation. His difficulties lasted for years.

He was trained in the Theosophical Society, and they had little understanding of kundalini. The practices that he did were intense, but he had no grounding practices and there was no staged progression. So, he did not do any work to prepare his subtle nervous system for a kundalini awakening. He did have teachers in the early days, including Annie Besant, but he had no teacher who could guide energy regulation. In other words, he did not understand the importance of self-pacing and grounding. The Theosophists focussed on metaphysical ideas but had little embodied understanding. Later on, he rejected all spiritual teachers, and even dismissed the idea that anyone should have a teacher, so no one could help him.

He was also under a great deal of pressure from an early age, as he was being groomed by the Theosophical society to become a “world spiritual leader”. This certainly would not help someone who was experiencing an intense energetic awakening.

So, Krishnamurti is actually a very good example of what not to do. Through his actual experiences he showed how important it is to have a teacher, how important it is to understand self-pacing and grounding, and how vital staged practices are.
