Hi everyone, I am new to AYP and thought this would be the best place to ask about this experience that just happened. I have found many forum posts here useful over the years.
I couple of days ago I was doing a heart centered Kundalini Kriya from Kimilla’s YouTube channel and toward the end of the practice a version of bow pose is part of the sequence where one goes up on the inhale and then back down on the exhale 52 times (rather than holding the pose statically). After about 20 repetitions I felt a feeling similar to “climbing the rope in gym class” and very quickly realized that I was building pressure in the prostate and stopped immediately and was able to circulate the energy. I tried again after a short time and the feeling came back so I just rested and moved onto the next exercise.
Two days later after thinking about this and wondering if there is some kind of energetic blockage, I tried this again on its own outside of my typical practices. The same pressure happened almost immediately. I then tried to rock back in forth while holding the pose up (as is called for in other kriyas) in an attempt to move the energy. Very quickly after I knew I was about to have fluid come out and I sat up into vajrasana and tried to engage mula bandha and breath deeply. However, a shot of prostate fluid and/or semen came out followed by a couple of contractions. It did not feel much like a sexually induced orgasm. The pubic bone was obviously in contact with the mat which is physically related to the svadhisthana chakra.
I wanted to ask some questions to the community 1) Has anyone ever experienced this before? I am thankful that I was practicing alone at home and not in public. 2) How much of a set back in my practice is this? It seemed like the release of fluids was mostly prostate fluid from the look and feel of it, but there did appear to be some white fluid as well. 3) Is there anything I can do to make sure this happens again? The day before this I practiced a kriya for sexual potency as I was trying to strengthen my pelvic floor muscles which is a set that I include in my practice from time to time as feels necessary.
I’d like to include some background information on my practice to help give context. I have been practicing yoga in the form of Hatha Vinyasa for almost 15 years off and on. I started practicing daily Kundalini yoga and conservation of the sexual fluids and circulation of energy as part of my yoga practice 3 and a half years ago. This also lead to daily meditation and pranayama as well as utilizing cold showers 3 days a week.
The last time that I ejaculated was the last day of summer 2025, so it has been over 3 full seasons. I do believe in a balance, especially during spring/summer seasons, where occasional release with a woman is beautiful and part of the householder path. I just happen to be outside of a relationship since the last time.
I was certainly feeling a high level of sexual energy building up during this time with the Full Moon coming up just after the Summer Solstice. Typically I can sublimate this effectively, but also this had been my longest period I have gone without releasing sexual fluid of any kind. I have had many spiritual and mystical experiences happen throughout the time I have been practicing these transformative works. Hopefully I can gain some insight and clarity here.
Does anyone here have any input or perspective to share on the above and the questions I asked?
Also, edit on question 2, it is supposed to ask if there is anything I can do to make sure it does NOT happen again. I’m not sure how to edit the post without re-posting from the draft.
If you are practicing yoga and preserving sexual energy and fluids, then there will be a gradual build-up of sexual energy in the body happening over time.
Bow pose generally activates the manipura chakra when held in a static way, and so is not usually sexually stimulating. However, coming up into the pose and then relaxing again repeatedly with each breath will also have the effect of activating the sacral chakra and this can be sexually stimulating. Holding the full pose whilst rocking back and forth can also have the same effect. So, either of these variations can be sexually stimulating and lead to orgasm and ejaculation. So, if this is something you are trying to avoid, then the easiest way is to simply hold the pose statically and not use either of the dynamic variations.
There is nothing wrong with orgasm and ejaculation once in a while, such as once a week, or once every other week. You will lose some prana, but the recovery time is often around a day or two, and it will not inhibit your spiritual progress too much. Long-term avoidance of orgasm and ejaculation can lead to emotional suppression for some people and the energy and fluids will often find a way to come out anyway, such as during sleep. So, long-term avoidance is not always healthy. This very much depends on the person. Some people are naturally celibate and can easily go for long periods of time without any issues.
I would recommend you to read through the Tantra Lessons on the main AYP website. They start here:
There is also an AYP book on Tantra by Yogani which covers many aspects of Tantric sexual practice here:
In the grand scheme of things, all tantra and yoga practices don’t really matter especially when they are reinforcing your persona and ego identity which is your situation…yoga should do the opposite right? It should relax the identification not increase it
If you are finding pleasure when this happens I think you should enjoy your new found gift. You have reached a level of enlightenment that only a few have achieved. Try not to overthink it.
Maybe experiment with trying to hold an edge to expand your practice.
If you don’t mind me asking; are you in the erect state when this happens and are you experiencing some kind of orgasmic sensation?
I can get a fluid release thru testicular stimulation without any sensation. I wonder if it is a similar effect
Thank you everyone for the discussion and I appreciate you sharing your perspective.
@Christi you make a good point on the stimulation of the second chakra in those variations of bow pose. It occured to me that the energies of the second and third chakras typically would mix during the asana and perhaps I had reached a threshold in my practice where I was not able to transmute and sublimate effectively. I certainly understand the importance of not suppressing energies. I have advanced my practice to a point where these energies did not come out during sleep or otherwise for 3 full seasons of Autumn, Winter, and Spring. Early in my practice, a week or two was quite intense before I became aware of how to move and use this energy. I do believe that a monthly schedule is more in aligned with nature, such as that of the moon cycle of women. That is certainly not meant to be a static dogmatic approach and the season of the year and one’s age certainly have an impact as well. I appreciate the links you shared and will give them a read.
@maheswari thank you for your compassionate response. The fact that the energy was wasted and not shared with a woman was unfortunate to me. Being wasteful is not in accordance with my being. I did offer up the energetic release to Divine Goddess and hopefully that was well received. Also, it was not initially given with pure intention and happened spontaneously. The intention of release for quite some time now has been a part of my practice, such as during tantric love making with women in the past. So this experience was quite a shock for me, especially considering that this could have happened during a practice in a public class!
If spiritual practice is not to be taken seriously that is a slippery slope haha. Of course we should all be playful, dance, laugh, and sing as we shine our light amongst one another and all of creation. The ego would certainly enjoy pleasure seeking and identification by remaining nonchalant. My post was meant as a discussion of a strange experience, curious if others had similar experiences, and not as a serious concern for myself or self condemnation.
@jmf calling this experience a gift is a great perspective, thank you for that. When I went back to attempt this asana after the initial sensation, I was doing exactly that, trying to hold the edge and move through any energy blocks utilizing breath and intention. There was no erect state to any degree and no initial sense of pleasure. The release itself was different from a more typical ejaculation and is difficult to describe. There have been many times where I have rocked in bow pose during heart opening kriya sets where afterword a heart orgasm is felt and my entire body shakes a bit (without any release) which is a very blissful and warm feeling. I would say that the loss of any prana that resulted was also different this time. It could be that after years of these practices and sexual energy sublimation that the energy has been transforming into ojas continuously and so although an impact physically was felt slightly for a day or two, after having a week to reflect I did not notice an impact on more subtle energy levels.
TY at the end of the day, our bodies know what they need. At that moment that is what your body needed to do. I practice retention as well. Sometimes it’s easy sometimes it can be difficult, but it’s all good.
Rather than try to control it or try to duplicate plan, predict or force it. Maybe just just go with it and trust your body.
