SBP during illness

Greetings fellow brothers and sisters. Hope you are all doing well and advancing well in your practices. I have been practicing AYP techniques for close to a decade now and the journey has been full of highs and lows .From last year i am facing a major hurdle in my practice. My prostrate has severe inflammation and scar tissue in dec 2024 as revealed via CT. Post this i developed an infection too which got cured temporarily by anti biotics but is recurring again. This situation has affected my daily practices a lot. I have this query , i don’t know when i am going to get cured, till then is it safe to practice spinal breathing pranayam? Will there be any repercussions if i practice SBP with illness ? ( chronic inflammation, prostrate, seminal vesicle infection , there is no UTI)

Hi Supermonk,

Sorry to hear of your health challenge. Your 10 years of AYP should be serving you well now during current health challenges, not mainly as cure, but as steadiness in heart and mind. That is the benefit of long time cultivated abiding inner silence. It is fine to continue with practices during this time as comfortable, but be sure to get the best medical care available. That will make a bigger difference in the near term. Yoga practices are more for our longer term liberation from the ups and downs of life. Good for health also, but not a magic bullet for curing illnesses. Best to go to the doctor for those.

If you like, we can put you on the samyama healing list.

Wishing you a speedy recovery.

The guru is in you.
