Prayer For Lent

I wrote this last year during the last week of Lent. I am no sure if I have shared it here. I don’t think so but if I already have, remember I said I am turning sixty and should be forgiven any memory lapse!

I am here, Lord, kneeling
At the foot of your cross, waiting
For drops of vinegar dripping
From your lips onto mine
It is to me, Lord, the sweetest of wine

I am here, Lord, kneeling
At the foot of your cross, waiting
For drops of water from your wound, dripping
me cleansing and in your living waters drowning
It is to me, Lord, the tenderest of floods

I am here, Lord, kneeling
At the foot of your cross, waiting
To me, your crown of thorns for a moment granting
that a few drops of my blood I be bringing
to the cup overflowing
It is to me, Lord, glorious suffering.
