Dear all,
When we are holding the plough pose, where should be the stretch?
Is it at lower spine, the upper spine or both.
Thanks
Hi vnbala,
In plough asana, we lengthen the spine by bringing the tail bone upwards. Then we lengthen the legs and the feet will drop slowly to the floor. If your feet touch the floor, curl the toes, lengten the backsides of the legs, by stretching away the heels. The stretch is at the backside of the body. From the crown to the heels.
Where you might feel the stretch most is depending on your bodytissues at that moment. Breath yourself into the pose in the holding position. The awareness or attention, could be into the belly, breathing to the lower back for instance. Hands could be on the lower back or beside you, or you can twine the hands together and come a bit higher on the shoulders.
Explore, you will learn a lot from it and experiences might change over time.
What is important, never, ever allow pain in asana, then we go back, always.
Thank you charlie.
