Please, please, please help me, with Kundalini

Hi,

I am sorry for the length. I’m really asking for your help. My name is Jana. 7 years ago, I started a spiritual path — yoga, tantra, a harsh confrontation with my ego. After about 3 years, energy would gently flow through my body every time I woke up. It was a pleasant tingling; I just let it run its course and didn’t think much of it. In our school, Kundalini was known about, but it wasn’t taught. In the 6th year, when I realized that the school wasn’t as pure as it seemed and a lot of realizations were surfacing, I left the yoga and tantra school. Inwardly (without intending to), I grew resentful of yoga, tantra, and everything that reminded me of the school — I simply couldn’t do it anymore. This was followed by a year of processing everything that had happened during those 6 years. Now, two years later, I started getting hot and cold flashes, terrible fatigue during the day, hypersensitivity in the lower spine, hypersensitive ears, and I saw bursts of light in the dark. Occasionally, I had morning joint pain in my palms along with them being charged with energy (thankfully not that often), and bursts of energy moving from the bottom of the spine up to the neck — and that’s where the problem began. I’ve had a block in my neck for 8 years, which feels tightened on the right side of the neck from the back toward the skull and shoulder blade, and also in front. However, in the front, it only showed up during loud prayers, so it took me a while to notice it. I’ve tried everything possible, but nothing has budged the block; even massages just tighten the neck more. The pain and pressure worsen when sleeping (when I put my head on the pillow), during stress, and during meditation or when energy increases. This block causes a problem when my Kundalini awakens — which wakes me up every morning; the energy rises, passes through the spine, gets stuck at the neck, and explodes right there in the area of pain. The tingling in my body is present almost all the time. On top of that, I’m starting to need to pee very frequently; I have no idea where all that water in me is coming from. I’m also gaining weight, my ears are ringing, and my hair has been falling out for a long time — there isn’t much left, and it is extremely dry. My head feels like it’s burning and tight, as if I’m wearing a helmet, and the insides of my knees hurt. The worst part is that I’ve always been an active athlete, but now, since February 2026, I can barely walk at all — max around the house with the dog, but no exercise. Not even light weight training; my nervous system doesn’t like it, and it immediately triggers the energy. I miss nature and movement. Plus, I need to find a new job, but I don’t know what to do when I can’t walk. My knees cannot bear my body weight. I am not overweight; even after gaining some weight, I am 165 cm and 56 kg. Doctors have ruled out illnesses; my blood tests are okay, and so are my knees. They just tried to push nervous system medications on me, but I don’t want that — it doesn’t solve the problem, it only numbs it.I also have extreme anxiety about the rest of my hair and about finances due to the job situation. I often feel sharp, stabbing pains in my head, my hair feels hot, and the roots hurt. I am simply burning from the inside. Does anyone have any advice? Specifically, how to ground myself without walking or eating heavy foods, and how to comprehensively clear the neck and the block inside it so the energy can move into the Sahasrara? I meditate daily; I haven’t abandoned my spiritual path, I couldn’t do that, but it takes very little for the energy to become active, and it feels like it’s awake inside me almost constantly. I wouldn’t want to turn it off, but rather support it on its journey — just not at the expense of my body, nervous system, and hair.

Thank you so very much for your advice and help. And thank God for this website, which I stumbled upon completely by chance.

Jana

Questionnaire:

  1. The energy appeared several years ago, gently in the morning as body tingling, prickling, and waves of energy. It started about 5 years ago for the first time when I was attending a tantra-yoga school. However, since February 2026, everything has intensified; my nervous system has gone crazy, my body is burning, and only now—about 10 days ago—energy explosions in the spine, light flashes behind closed eyes, occasional chills, hot flashes throughout the whole body, and extreme frequent fatigue have started. The fatigue often forces me to lie down and doesn’t let go until these energies literally shut off after about 2 hours. I have to rinse my hair with cold water several times a day, which helps, and I have started peeing very frequently.

  2. It is constant, but worse in the morning, which is when the current in my spine turns on. My sleep is poor, with frequent waking; this energy literally wakes me up and won’t let me fall back asleep. However, I’ve had sleep issues (frequent waking) for a long time. Plus, I’ve had frequent magical dreams since childhood.

  3. Definitely spiritual. I have worked on myself immensely, and the spiritual path has been deeply fulfilling. Over the years, I have learned a lot about myself and my ego. I have changed, and I believe for the better.

  4. Now mostly meditation and prayers twice a day for 30 minutes to 1.5 hours. Yes, I have felt that meditation increases the energy, but then again, almost everything does for me.

  5. I used to perceive the energies of places and negative entities. I even saw some entities in the past, which scared me when I was young. Twice a day I do prayers and clearing practices with God, occasionally smudging when I feel the need, and I started wearing Nuummite stones because they called to me. However, with the knee pain, hair loss, and fatigue, I have started to isolate myself.

  6. No, I do not take drugs. I don’t smoke or drink alcohol.

  7. Over the past 7 years, the hardest parts have been repeatedly pushing past my own boundaries, figure out my self-worth, self-betrayal, and a difficult relationship.

  8. My sex drive disappeared with the arrival of these intense energies; my body is simply too exhausted.

  9. I eat almost no meat, but I do eat sweets, so I don’t follow a strict diet.

  10. I would love to, I really miss movement, but the knee pain and fatigue won’t let me move much.

  11. I yearn for God and my fulfilled path, but hopefully not excessively.

  12. No, I cannot walk, even though before this happened, my heart started drawing me toward helping others.

  13. An overloaded nervous system, otherwise they didn’t find anything.

  14. It has been about 10 days since it manifested this extremely and I realized it is Kundalini, so no. The knee pain, tight head, and burning sensation in my head have been there since February 2026, but after a few months, at least the head eased up; however, everything returned 10 days ago.

Hi Jana, welcome to the forum.

That all sounds pretty intense, I’m sorry you are having so much trouble!

The clue you have given is ‘burning from the inside’. This says that you are simply doing way, way, way too much spiritual practice.

The core of AYP is ‘self pacing’, which means to cut back practice times for a while until symptoms calm down (like inner sunburn). Excessive prayer and meditation are probably what is causing these symptoms. If you cannot do grounding exercise or eat a heavy diet then you are left with little choice but to cut back practice, which you may find means that you can get out the house, or maybe do some seated Quigong exercises.

That’s the short answer. I would also consider accepting some medical help from doctors regarding medication, it may help get you back on track, and it won’t be a permanent thing.

Failing that, some herbal teas can help with the nervous system, particularly those with ‘nervines’.

Hope that helps

All the best,

Tom

Hi Jana,
There are a couple of things to be aware of, which hopefully might help with the worst of the symptoms.
First, as Tom has said, excessive spiritual practice will worsen Kundalini symptoms and cutting down to either a bare minimum of practice is quite likely to give you some relief. This means cutting down to 5-10 minutes of spiritual practice, and if you’re symptoms do not go away, even less. Worst case you have to go to zero.
As you noticed, there is too much of a good thing, and we don’t want this cleansing process to come at the expense of your body and your nervous system. Spiritual practices are like putting more fuel into the fire, so we want to be very controlled and minimal with how much we’re doing, so that the speed of the energy slows down and you don’t feel like you’re burning up anymore.
Another thing to be aware of is that the sahasrara chakra and the brahma nadi leading to it are highly unstable when they have not been purified enough before over years and years. This means that people will experience some quite uncomfortable symptoms when this energy channel is activated too soon. This is why in AYP we spend a lot of time purifying the root to third eye connection, which is a lot more safe and stable.
So, if you’re doing anything to purposely move the energy into the crown, be aware that this is something that will strongly increase the energy flows in your body and nervous system and that this will make your symptoms worse.
Another way to slow down the rate at which energy flows through you is through light physical activity, which in your case, seems hard, since you can barely walk. In general though, doing mundane, everyday things, like chores, walking the dog inside your house, and similar things will slow down the fire bit by bit.

Dear Jana,

Welcome to the forums. You have already been give good advice. Cut back on spiritual practices for a while except for some gentle stretching exercises. Place more focus on exercises that lengthens the spine. Tom proposed Quigong above - I am not familiar with it but with yoga asanas. It will help with the energy flow.

You do not mention any form of pranayama (breathing) practices. A couple of rounds of alternate nostril breathing would probably help. Spinal Breathing Pranayama would probably help best but it may be a hit and miss at this stage as it is also likely to stimulate the energy further but it would greatly improve the flow up and down the spine instead of all over the place.
