Just wanted to clear a doubt, is yoga connected to any deity or spiritual side! Recently i started mediated when i hear the influence of Shiva! How can it affect more if one is loved within themselves and want to embrace stillness! If u guys give me any new insights i would be glad for some help.
Hi Emi, and welcome.
Yoga is for cleansing and opening our subtle neurobiology. It does not depend on any particular deity, spiritual or religious orientation. However, as we open from within, we will become aware of more than we were before, and may find our relationship with the true nature of life becoming more clear. This can take the form of our cultural upbringing and beliefs, and ways that we might interpret our refining perception of these. It is all emanating from pure bliss consciousness rising from within, and no particular belief system has ownership of that. How we may relate to it is a personal matter, often colored by our upbringing and culture, and that is as it should be.
Regarding deities, that is in the belief and devotion of the practitioner, which can take many forms, or no form at all. Everyone is different in this. Our devotion to the process of unfoldment, and to any chosen object of devotion (Ishta) is called “Bhakti.” Here is a beginning lesson on it: AYP Lesson 67 - Bhakti - The Science of Devotion
All the best on your path!
The guru is in you.
