Kechari Mudra in the Dental Hygiene Chair

Namaste AYP Community,

Earlier this week, I went in for a routine dental hygiene cleaning. Initially, I was anxious and worried about my tongue getting in the way as usual. Suddenly, as the hygienist was cleaning, it dawned on me for the first time that Kechari Mudra could make the experience more relaxing for me and easier for her. With her permission, I manually placed my tongue behind the soft palate.

In an tone of amazement, she said, “I wish all my patients could do that!” Afterward, she asked, “Could I show my friend?” While she stepped out to find her colleague, I pulled up the Wikipedia page on Kechari Mudra on my phone to show them it was a thing. Neither had heard of it before and they were very affirming. The one who had been working me specifically said she likes a “holistic” approach. Walking out of the office I felt a yogic high.

I googled it, and it seems nobody is talking online about Kechari Mudra practice in the dental chair. Have any of you tried it?
