Yesterday, I was meditating and briefly fell into a half-asleep kind of state in which I seemed to see a kind of colorless ring made of sort of radiating spokes. I was thinking about how to describe this and rereading the AYP lessons on “the star” when I realized that what I saw was basically Yogani’s drawing of the radiating circle used for the AYP “logo,” albeit colorless (one could call it “white” but it seemed more like something super-imposed on the visual field without color) and without the “om” symbol.
Was this possibly “the star” (I have seen little lights here and there but not something like this)? Does anyone know (or perhaps Yogani can tell us) whether the AYP “logo” was drawn with “the star” (inside view of the sushumna) in mind?
I have seen similar things before. It sounds to me like you are seeing chakras (but I could be wrong) . They are usually spinning when I see them, and are very beautiful and intricate.
The star for me is literally like a star as we see them from the ground at night, although sometimes it can become the size of the moon, or larger. The star can be seen from inside the spinal nerve where you can see larger coloured rings around it sometimes, usually during yoni mudra kumbakha.
If it sounds more like a chakra, then perhaps Yogani’s drawing is of a chakra. Maybe specifically the heart chakra, since he said everyone has a “heart of gold”–that is, although it is sometimes associated with the color green, it may also appear yellow or gold.
I guess this raises the question of whether the chakras are “in” the sushumna as like layers or something, but that is all fairly “under the hood.”
I’m happy to find this discussion. For a bit over a year now I’ve sometimes had this phenomenon where a transparent white “hole” appears in the center of my visual field that seems to be sucking light into it. Somehow it doesn’t disrupt the visual field overall, and I can see just fine. It likes to appear on my long road trips while I’m on the highway, so I’m thankful it’s amusing and not dangerous.
I’ve made several posts in the art channel over the last year or so about adventures with my light ring sculpture. I’ve often wondered where that exprsesion came from. While I obviously know the history behind it, it’s mysterious even to me why I chose that specific representation. One of my longest working theories is that it’s actually an unconscious expression of the third eye “star” or sushumna tunnel much like Casey is suggesting the AYP logo could be (but consciously idk). I’ve often noted the resemblence between the AYP symbol and the light ring. Cool stuff!
