As many of you know, Yogani is having to do lots of grunt work to keep everything going.
He’s moderating this forum, trying to get word out about the practices, handling the book
publishing, and (as most of you know) generously offering his considerable wisdom and
experience to all comers via email. What’s more, he’s not a young man, and I share his
concern that these wonderful practices not fade when he does. That can only happen if
some of us step up and help out.
So, as one of the biggest loudmouths on the forum, I figured I’d take the first step. I think
most of us would agree Yogani’s time is better spent writing lessons and advising via
email, rather than acting as publicist and forum janitor for the beautiful thing he’s created
and we enjoy. So…is anyone interested in helping:

  1. moderate this forum (stave off fights and commercialism and all that, process new
registrants, haggle with people whose postings are staved off, etc
    and/or
  2. getting the word out about AYP? Every day I do these practices, I gain appreciation for
their ingenuity. It would be great if more people could experience what we’re
experiencing, but that won’t happen without pushing the message out there…and we, the
first generation of practitioners, need to step up! I’m not suggesting banging drums in
airports! There are uncreepy, unevangelical ways to connect these methods with the
countless people who’d absolutely love them. I wish someone had told ME about them
    sooner!
None of the above requires any level of spiritual attainment! So even if you’re a lurker here
who’s never said a word, and are just launching your journey - but see the value of this
particular method - and you have skills, connections, time, or other assets that might help
with the above - please reply (or, if you’re shy, shoot me an email).
And even if you don’t reply, make an effort to let your yoga friends know about this
practice. So many folks are working on asana these days, and missing all this good stuff.
Point them to it! The more consciousness is raised, the better a world we’ll have to live in!

Very good ideas Jim and Karma!
I’ve wondered how Yogani manages it all, plus trying to finish his
novel that is (hopefully) going to be published this summer. If some
level-headed person or two or three volunteered to assist in
moderating the group it would save him some chunk of time.
Regarding promoting the book, website, forum and this path in
general: One thing I’ve done is bring Yogani’s book to meetings or
groups I attend and I leave it out where people can see it. It’s an
easy way to catch people’s attention. Those who have some interest
pick it up and some ask questions or start a conversation…that
way I don’t feel like I’m forcing anything on anyone…
    Light and Love,
    Kathy

I think most of us would be ready to volunteer and moderate this
group. But as kathy as pointed out the question is of level-
headedness. I think yogani might himself request for our help when
he feels we might do a good job.
One observation i want to make is that after the moderation started
recently, group activity became a bit less. Ofcourse moderation has
    done good things too.

I had Yogani’s permission to post a query. I was concerned he might be overextended, and
he is indeed doing lots at once. And he’s written in the lessons about hoping we’ll
establish a horizontal network. This isn’t about him, it’s about the teachings, and if we
don’t work to publicize them and foster a community for discussing/supporting them,
nobody else will…and they’ll fade and die. Yogani wrote the lessons, for which I’m real
grateful. He did his part, let’s do ours!
None of this is a momentous big job or huge undertaking of responsibility. We can divvy
up (easy) tasks. If anyone’s interested, please email me. If we have a crew in place, maybe
we can get these great teachings more out there…and get this forum up to critical mass
(we have some great, experienced, interesting people, but could use a more!).
Oh, and moderation is essential for high quality online discussion. Without it, talk
invariably degenertaes into flame wars (angry fights), commerciality, and digression. Yes,
    even in yoga forums!

    Hi Jim,
I am willing to moderate the group as per yogani’s guidelines.
Coming to the publicity thing, all of us i think have been doing
that individually already. If there is anything that we could
collectively do, that will be good.
If there are some computer geeks here who could help us build a more
attractive website for www.advancedyogapractices.com i feel that
would go a long way in giving publicity. Just my 2 cents
    Love,
    Near

    Hi, Near
Awesome! I’ll drop you an email. It’d be best if we could have a group moderating, rather
    than an individual. A few
reasons: individuals get busy, go away, lose interest, get stuck about about being king of
    the
hill, etc. So it’s GREAT you want to help (I’ll help, too). Anyone else? This forum could get
really active (hope it does…what a great resource it could be!). We’ll need all the help we
can get. I’m NOT talking about tons of time. If you can add just a few minutes to your daily
“practice” to meta practice (do practice to help the practice), that’d be awesome!
As for the geeks, the first thing we could use is a new forum site (and we could then
choose to put the lessons there as well - I’m pretty sure Yogani supports “mirroring” of the
lessons on multiple sites; it’ll help ensure their preservation). Decent forum software
would mean we could have multiple discussion boards for multiple subjects, so it’s not all
blended together (e.g. this sort of thread wouldn’t disrupt the practice talk). If anyone out
there has opinions, don’t just opine from your zafu! Help out! Don’t be passive! Yogani
wrote it, now let’s do something with it!
Re: publicity, you say " If there is anything that we could collectively do…" Well, that’s
what we need to plan! Stuff doesn’t just happen! First step is to gather people who care
about this stuff and want to help do something. Next step is to discuss ideas. Then do it.

Yes, with a group helping, and with the workload fairly light, I’d

Rather than completely hijack this board, now that there are a few people interested, let’s
talk preliminaries via email. as soon as I get a sec, I’ll shoot out some emails.
Note that I’m not aiming to be king of this mountain. I’m just trying to get some
movement going on so that Yogani has more time to do what he does and there are
enough people to fill the gap that no one person has to serve as gap filler.

    Hi there
On the point about making the main sight more attractive I would like
to just say please keep it simple remember not everybody has
broadband. The sight as it is loads quickly and easily, fancy sights
take a long time to load for anyone on a dial up connection, and
people who stumble upon it while searching Yoga are likely to get
bored with waiting and just cut it off exactly the opposite thing too
    what we want.
    Blessings R.C.

Attention all: If you want input, join the crew and help make things happen! Along the way,
you get to determine HOW it happens! Whoever works most gets most say! that’s one of
    the perqs!
But don’t worry, RC…all message board software loads well on slow connections, unless
dolled up with a bunch of photos and stuff (and no reason for that!)
