There was a practice I used at one time similar to Zazen just sitting where you don’t use a mantra but allow thoughts to come and go but don’t engage in them ,it was offered by. Gavin Hoole who was an advanced TM practioner ,would using this way of resting after DM be considered over doing practice,it’s basically what I do for a few mins before resuming daily life after DM but find it so restful that I was considering extending say for 10 mins.
Just spotted a post from Nov 25 on this section of a question related but within DM which this is related to after DM but the answers were helpful and seem to point to the abiding in stillness post DM which was my question really although if noticing engagement in thinking which is not abiding in stillness and then coming back to the comfort zone(Hooles) wording for noticing as opposed to mantra probably ranks as effort and actually still practicing which is not part of DM even though the mantra part of DM had come to the end of practice.so maybe not ideal??
Me overthinking it probably ,and maybe just resting in the quietness after DM and noticing any engagement is enough
