What is the Chin Pump?
Dynamic Jalandhara is also called The Chin Pump. In AYP, we learn static Jalandhara Bandha with Yoni Mudra Kumbhaka.
The Chin Pump is a more dynamic movement of repeatedly sweeping the head across and letting it fall to the chest, while doing pranayama and breath retention, first in one direction, then the other.
The effect will be to stimulate the movement of prana between the heart and the head. I call it the “chin pump,” because prana gets pumped up and down between the heart and head with this practice. It is a real cleanout and energy stimulation practice for the upper body and head.
Other basic practices should be in place and stable before attempting the chin pump. Click “Main lessons” above to learn the prerequisite practices. You should not practice this techniqueif you have any health issues that could be aggravated by head movement and breath retention.
