Hi all,
I wanted to share some passages from the AYP Lessons that deeply resonate with me at this stage of my journey. They serve as helpful reminders and grounding points when I find myself drifting into overthinking or escapism.
Lesson 35 – Enlightenment Milestones
“The ultimate destination is enlightenment. What is enlightenment? A state of balanced union between our two natures: pure bliss consciousness, and our sensory involvement on this physical earth. That is the definition of yoga, and the destination of all religion.”
This speaks to me because I often overanalyze the process of enlightenment and end up going off into conceptual tangents. This lesson reminds me that it’s okay—beneficial even—to simply be here now, connected to my physical senses and daily life. It helps me stay grounded.
Lesson 360 – Acts of Surrender
“Surrender is not a passive act, nor a lack of acting at all. In fact, in the AYP writings, we often put the word ‘active’ in front of it: ‘Active surrender.’ Real surrender requires an earnest effort. You will find you have lots of inspiring company on your path, once you take a few steps on your own… If you make a habit of acting for your best interest, everything will change for the better. That is the result of surrender to and acting upon the call that comes to us in every aspect of our life. Just say ‘yes’ and do it.”
I resonate with this because I can sometimes lean into escapism and expect deep meditation to fix everything on its own. This passage reminds me that I must still engage with life and take the necessary actions—especially the uncomfortable ones. It also fills me with hope that positive change naturally comes when we say “yes” and follow through.
If any of this resonates with you as well, I’d love to hear your reflections or experiences.
