Asana routines for chronic stress, insomnia?

Hello,
I have chronic stress, anxiety due to work and it causes me to have chronic severe insomnia.
I tried many things to cure my insomnia but with not much success. And due to my active pranotthana energy, I am taking a break from meditation. (meditation never helped me with my insomnia too)
Do you have any Asana routine suggestion I can do every evening that may help me to balance my nervous system and help me sleep? How long does it take to see results if I practice an Asana routine regularly?
Much appreciate for any suggestion.
Thank you

Hi Cookie20,
Yes, an asana routine can help settle the energies and sleep. The AYP asana routine is covered in Lesson 71.
In your case, it might be beneficial to sign up for a beginner asana class, which would provide hands on instruction, a structured schedule to show up for, and some social interaction with others having similar interest.
All the best!
The guru is in you.

Hello cookie20,
AYP does also have its own asana sequences. The basic one can be found here for free. There are also some other, longer, variations of AYP asana sequences (AYP plus only?). There is another, longer, sequence that Tristan (Christi) has taught on some retreats.

Another sequence I used to really enjoy, is Yin yoga sequence (the one that claims to be ‘for stress release’). Yin yoga sequences are pretty slow and calming, if that is what you are feeling like.

On the other side of the spectrum, you can also consider actual exercise. I’ve recently enjoyed reading the book ‘Deep Fitness’ (by Philip Shepherd, Andrei Yakovenko), which is about mindful strength training (there is also a lot about the science of exercising in there). It seems like a bit of a paradox to combine intense exercise with precise awareness of your body, but it really makes sense to me. We shouldn’t underestimate the benefits that exercise (and intense exercise too!) can have for your physical (and mental!) well-being.

Hi Cookie, Selfpaste and all,

There is an online AYP 21-day video asana video course available, that goes through around four different AYP asana sequences. It also includes a few other asana sequences as well. It is taught by Devrim Zahir who is one of our lead AYP teacher trainers. That course can be found here.
