What are your favorite meditation CDs?

I’ve added Centerpointe’s “The Dive” onto my nightly before sleep routine. This is the first part of a very expensive brainwave entrainment package. I mention it here because not only is it profoundly meditative and relaxing, but I have found the simple melody of the bells played on this track extraordinarily beautiful. Whoever composed and played this piece is truly a master.
I’ve seen discussions about Centerpointe’s Holosync system elsewhere in the AYP forums and on the Net (for example here) but nowhere to I near mention of the truly beautiful musicality of this piece.

Thank you Balance for sharing this info ! I have listened to some bhajans by Karunamayi and deeply enjoyed her voice. She is very gifted, I like her a lot.

Lately I’ve been listening to High Focus: Activate Lucid Thinking by Kelly Howell(http://www.amazon.com/High-Focus-Activate-Thinking-Audios/dp/1881451976) every night. In fact I’m listening to it right now and it’s generated so much energy my jaw is sore and my teeth feel like they’re loose.
Listening to this CD with headphones almost immediately brings me into a state of meditative absorption. I don’t know about the “lucid thinking” aspect, but for me the Sound of Silence gets so strong it’s like a chorus of angels. Very intense and I’m glad I worked on my third eye to control the energy. I highly recommend this CD, especially those who experience the SoS.

Autour De La Lune by Biosphere (http://www.bbc.co.uk/music/release/gfmq/) highly recommended.
“a breathtakingly beautiful, haunted work which is divided into nine movements over 71 minutes. What is most immediately noticeable is the spare and spectral nature of this music.”
Hearing the bass rumblings in one of the tracts seems to have deepened my practice.

Some of my personal favourites include:
“Music to Quiet the Mind” (Eckhart Tolle) http://www.amazon.com/Music-Quiet-Mind-Eckhart-Tolle/dp/B001EOQUSM/ref=sr_1_1?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1292277164&sr=1-1
“Zen Escape”: http://www.amazon.com/Zen-Escape-Daniel-Gordon-Gibson/dp/B000066F17
plus anything by Deva Premal

I’ve using a Deva Premal CD to help my new born baby sleep. Wonderful stuff.

After experimenting with many inspirational and metitation CDs I find that Divine Sound by Omdasji Maharaj is the first by far. Not only does it develop your energy and calm your consciousness but it is grounding at the same time. Nothing else comes close.
Turya nada by Tapasyogi is also good (the fourth track on the 1st CD). The spontaneous praise to Babaji has me chanting along each time! But I found that this CD wasn’t able to ground me when I needed it.
My theory is that not only is the music and the chanting itself that are important, but the state of consciousness of the person performing/producing the music and the chanting is also crucial. So its better to listen to chants sung by Saints and Devis or those whom you know are of a high spiritual caliber.

“RipTiz” Dave…Could please click on my name and e-mail information on how to obtain a copy of the Divine Sound CD if they are still available. I’ve just joined the forum and am not able to send e-mails to anyone yet.
Thanks, Wayne

Wow, I am really tired! I meant “Music in the Key of Om” by Jack Dejohnette  Ultimate Om is good, maybe very good, but not great like MiTKoO.

You can contact Riptz for details on this. Just click on his name in the member list and send him an email.

p.s. Had a great time on the ashram and some awesome food also.

I noticed when I visited India in October all the American visitors were loving the food. The taste was mostly just OK as far as I was concerned, but I have to say that my body LOVED it. I’ve had difficulty eating since I returned to the US in mid-October. Recently I realized that I need to start cooking Indian food even though I don’t really want to!
The divine commands and I ignore the call at my peril.
