Using a timer for tantric meditation

In an effort to enhance my tantric meditations I have started using a timer to break up the various segments of my sessions by time.
I set a timer in my phone to ring every 15 minutes.
It goes something like this:
15 minutes of meditation and breathing
15 minutes to reach the phallic or aroused state
15 minutes to reach the first edge
15 minutes of edging
15 minutes of cooldown

I just use it as a guide i
Does concept resonate with anyone here?
I just started this so there are a few things I am still working on such as anticipating the bell but I do think setting parameters is helpful,
Before I would find that my sessions were shorter than I thought and shorter than I wanted them to be. . Using the timer my sessions run about twice as long.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this

Hi James

As far as I’m aware, edging isn’t part of AYP tantric practice. In tantric solo practice we stay well clear of anything close to orgasm. Edging looses energy, it can also make the genitals feel uncomfortable afterwards.

Eventually it is not even necessary to touch the genitals to stimulate a whole body ecstatic state. For me, just laying down midday, just being in stillness produces an ecstatic response, although some gentle mulabanda can help things along. But usually just completely letting go into stillness works.

A good book to read on these practices is the classic “ The art of sexual ecstasy” by Margo Anand if you want so further reading. But really, to get to these stages a solid meditation practice is the best thing. I actually discovered it by accident as a result of AYP practice.

As for timer, why not? May be a useful tool to stop overload.

All the best,

Tom
