I agree with you Jim. Whatever we reason, read or analyze is good
but it cannot replace our practices as a means to reach our goal.
Sometimes this reading and knowing things helps in our practices
too. For example had i not read/known that getting thoughts in
meditation is okay, i would have really made a mess out of my
meditation. Similarly “dont expect a perfect guru, be one yourself”
is a very good suggestion that i read too. We often try to analyze
the guru and expect perfection in him which can be a hindrance to
our goal. We need to try to glean as much good info as possible for
every source/guru that we meet instead of expecting too much
perfection from everyone.
I always keep my practices as my first priority and learning thru
reading the 2nd.
