Has anyone been to or know of any good communities to visit in America?
hey kyman
can you say more about what you’re looking for?
peace
Heather
A spiritual community of some kind, where you can visit and stay for a couple days.
I don’t have a lot of funds.
Hi Kyman,
Check out the intentional communities website: http://www.ic.org/
Also, many organic farms work within spiritual communities. You can search for them at the following three websites:
http://www.organicvolunteers.com/
http://www.attrainternships.ncat.org/
http://www.wwoofusa.org/
What is nice about visiting a working spiritual community/farm is that you may have the opportunity to earn some money or at least cover travel and living expenses.
I hope you find what you are looking for and if you need further assistance, do not hesitate to ask for my help in searching.
Sincerely, Hunter
P.S. What is your current state residence? I could search some communities for you if I knew.

Thanks for the help, I very much appriciate it.
Got a few emails out. Some of the places were pretty amazing.
Hi Kyman,
Resurfacing, and just saw this thread … you may know of this one already, but in case not:
http://www.yogaville.org/Guest_Stays/Guest_Stays.html
Yogaville is world-famous, I’ve heard a couple of good reviews from people who have stayed there, and it’s about 175 miles from you - northwest of Richmond (in Buckingham, VA).
The only other ashrams I know of, and have had experience with, are in California (Ananda in Nevada City, CA - very nice, and very welcoming to people who are not Ananda devotees <– very casual, open attitudes). Relatively low prices … though you would have travel cost to add in.

Also Mt. Madonna … founded / led by Baba Hari Das, direct disciple of Neem Karoli Baba … very good vibes at this place; I used to go up for the day, to hang out in all that Bliss – Adyashanti does a lot of his retreats there, and Baba Hari Das seems to be another “fully enlightened yet fully down to Earth” Realized teacher, who we can all benefit from being near, and/or listening to.

Hope this helps (Kyman, or anyone else looking for ashrams to check out).
Peace & Namaste,
Kirtanman
PS - There’s also the U.S. ashram of Neem Karoli Baba, in Taos, NM (I almost stopped by on my recent cross-country drive, but the 4-5 hours round-trip out of my way, and attendant snow … changed my mind) …
http://www.nkbashram.org/about.html - don’t know anyone who has been here, but folks like Bhagavan Das, Ram Dass, etc. were among the founders - so imagine there are some good vibes. ![]()
