ayurveda - krumi

Hello Victor,
thanks for that info.
Does anyone know if they made the crucial leap of recognizing krumi as being responsible for infection?
-D

Yes they did. Krumi have been known to cause many kinds of infection. I don’t thin that they made the leap to define bacteria as different from microscopic worms (or protozoa for that matter) but they certainly knew that they caused infection and came up with a number of herbal remedies to kill them.

According to the Charaka Samhita, one of the orignial Ayurvedic texts(at least 5000 years back), there are 20 types of worms which cause disease.Dased on habitat, they are categorized into 4 groups which grow in feces, mucous, blood and non-fecal excreta.
