During night mass on the 24th Dec, I experienced Amrita in a different manner. I am not much of a church-goer but I do love to attend Christmas night mass. This year, I found I could not pray or sing along as words had abandoned me. I was just there holding the space for Christ’s presence. Then came the moment when the priest lifts up the cup of wine to bless. The smell of wine filled my nose and head so strong (although I was sitting quite a distance away) and the smell turned into taste and rolled down my throat as amrita. Rich, smooth and fruity.
