Setting notifications :envelope_with_arrow:
The first thing that you should do is to go to your profile and change your notification settings. Your profile is the small circle top-right of the screen on a laptop, and you can find settings by clicking on it and scroll down to the little image of a person at the bottom. Click on that, and you will have the option to click on “preferences”. Here, you can set preferences for receiving notifications within the forum, and also email notifications. If you want to receive notifications when people make new posts in certain categories, you will also need to go to each category and set it to “watching”. This is done using the “bell icon” next to each category. It is also possible to set individual topics as “watching”.

Clearing “unread” topics and posts
If you are seeing a lot of posts marked as “unread” or “new”, then click on the “unread” or “new” tab and click “dismiss”. This will set your unread posts to zero. You may have to do this a few times to begin with, as the system thinks that all posts brought over from the old forum before February 2025 are unread.

Download the app :iphone:
There are two possible ways to get this forum on an app:

  1. If you have an Android phone using any browser, or an iPhone using iOS 13 and above with the Safari browser, you can use your phone’s browser to create an app for you. This will create a “progressive app” on your phone which will show up in the apps section in settings, and on your main phone screen with the other apps. To do this, when you are on the forum on your phone, if using an Android, click on the three dots at the top of the browser screen and select “Add to Home Screen”. If using an iPhone with Safari, click the “share” icon at the bottom (square with arrow pointing up). Then when offered “Save with link”, or “Install”, select “Install”. The wording could vary depending on the phone model and operating system. Then go into settings and turn on notifications. You may need to turn on notifications for the browser, rather than for the forum app. Check “allow notifications when app is not in use” if you see that option. This is the best way of accessing the forum via an app as it should allow push notifications on your phone Home Screen.
  2. There is another way to get the forum on an app on your phone, but it is not as good as the first. If you have an Android phone or an iPhone, you can download the Discourse Hub app from the app store. You will then need to add the URL for this forum which is www.aypforum.discoursehosting.net . This will then give you access to the forum via that app on your phone, but will not display push notifications.
